BruniBetting: Ilili

New, 3 comments

Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Ilili, the new Lebanese restaurant at 27th and Fifth Avenue. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:

Zero Stars: 3-1
One Star: 2-1
Two Stars: 4-1 ??
Three Stars: 50-1
Four Stars: 25,000-1
First off, you blood-thirsty crazies, the zilcher ain't happening. Ilili, though palindromic, isn't important enough to be takedown-eligible. The data points thus far are a two star review from Moira Hodgson and some other random positive buzz. There is also the Couzo hammer drop, though it was filed too early to be relevant today. The suspense this week is on whether Ilili will get one or two stars, with one star being the most likely outcome statistically speaking. But, in a sense, if the Bruni were here for one star, it's the kind of place he tends to pass on—flashy, decent food, not much else to say. So, Eater is taking the deuce odds this week, knowing full well it might go a different way.
