BruniBetting: Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill

New, 5 comments

Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill, the Bromberg brother's latest iteration of Blue Ribbon, recently opened at 6 Columbus Circle. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:

Zero Stars: 5-1
One Star: 2-1
Two Stars: 4-1 ??
Three Stars: 50-1
Four Stars: 25,000-1
Historic data points include Blue Ribbon Sushi's deuce and Blue Ribbon Sushi Brooklyn's onespot. The rest of this is going to be improvised. The oddsmakers have gotten the scenarios right today, with one star being the most likely outcome. All available reviews on the restaurant indicate that it's a one star show—good, not great, in that Bromberg sweet spot of fresh sushi, great fried chicken and a damn good version of bone marrow. But, Eater is going to bet on the Bruni ex-factor. There is a intangible at play this week that's going to push this restaurant to the bare minimum requirement it needs for a deuce. It's also worth mentioning that it's hard to see a real reason to go down the review path on Bromberg restaurant number 8 if it's just going to be for a single star. So, Eater is taking a deuce. In any case, look for a positive review that is in part a state of the union on the Bromberg empire overall.
