Bar Boulud, 1900 Broadway, UWS; (212) 595-0303.
Now, an update on Bar Boulud, Daniel Boulud's forthcoming wine bar and bistro on the Upper West Side. First from Flo Fab's preview, to refresh: "Daniel Boulud will make a quick run across Central Park to the West Side for a bistro that will feature mainly Rhone and Burgundy wines, charcuterie supervised by Gilles Vérot of Paris, cheeses and a bistro menu from the executive chef, Ed Cotton. The room is being given a cavelike contour and a wall of gravel. A barlike communal table, a wine-tasting table, rows of tables at leather banquettes and three private dining rooms on the lower (wine cellar) level will round out the presentation."
And, a report from the scene: "i recently had the opportunity to poke my head inside the much ballyhooed bar boulud. i snapped off some photos on the phone (pardon the quality) and one can see a long vaulted ceiling and a very narrow space. the press i read mentioned three private rooms which would not really fit here, and i am bit confused. perhaps, y'all can make some sense of it. i thought the pics would be up your alley." Indeed, they are.
