As the Cutlets is reporting, Grayz will finally debut on Monday, at 15 West 54th Street (formerly the old Aquavit digs). First, we offer the restaurant's namesake, chef Gray Kunz, some congratulations. The restaurant—which is to be open for lunch, private parties and light fare—is a year delayed, after all. Second, while it seems the chef is trying to keep mum on his opening day menu, close readers of this web presence will recall that Kunz has been publicly testing Grayz menu items since March, at the brasserie (bar) at Cafe Grey in a menu section called "Finger Foods." None of this is sure to be on the Grayz menu, but here are some of the items we know for certain have been offered at Cafe Gray:
· Crabmeat Fritters, pepper – saffron aïoli 23And, a few more, if the current online menu is accurate:
· Fisher's Island Oysters and Shrimp Cocktail vodka granité 24
· Tamarind Glazed Chicken Lollipops, cauliflower and yogurt 15
· Steak Tartarte tenderloin carpaccio and ketjap manis 20
· Spiced Chicken Marsala Dosas with tamarind glaze 17· EaterWire: Grayz Menu in Secret Taste Tests [~E~]
