The first proper restaurant to emerge from the David Rabin/Will Regan hotness machine is Mexican joint Los Dados, with chef Sue Torres in the kitchen. The simple south of the border digs are by designer Nancy Mah, who has lent her expertise to Rabin/Regan club Lotus and a slew of others. Despite its location dangerously close to Mepa -- in Mepa, actually -- Los Dados tends to skew less sceney than many of its neighbors (though Florent does have the benefit of a few decades on it, in the category of local cred). Especially if you secure a booth, it is one of the few restaurants in the area that won't drive you to the brink of madness on a Saturday night. Next week they're opening a take-out taqueria, which someday is going to go perfectly with a stroll on the Highline, coming soon just across Washington Street.
