EaterWire: Ushi Wakamaru To Reopen In Two Months & More!

SOHO—We've received three reader reports today about recently DOH'd restaurant Ushi Wakamaru. In no particular order, here is the first: "Closed by order of the Health department, SoHo cult hit sushi bar Ushi Wakamaru has been dark now for nearly a month. Their phone message says that they're 'doing renovations, and will be open soon.' After the less than stellar review from Bruni a few weeks ago, I think this place could be on it's way out." And the second: "I am one of its fans. I read with interest the piece on their DOH incursion. Where did all the comments and the item go? Did the DOH come down on you? None of it seemed litigable to me." And the third: "After a good bruni review a few weeks back this place was temporarily closed by the DOH when I walked by last night (obviously in need of a clean up if you’ve been lately)." Well, a call to the restaurant yielded the news that it will be closed for two months. That should be enough time to clean the place up. [EaterWire Inbox]

CENTRAL VILLAGE—Italian restaurant il Buco is holding its annual pig roast tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 6pm. The cost is $20 per plate; drinks are $8. The menu will be porcine-focused, of course, with offerings like Flying Pigs Farm porchetta panini on ciabatta with mostarda and Heritage Ossabaw barbeque roast pork. [EaterWire]
