Please shed a single tear at this time for the West Village Chinese delivery standby Mama Buddha, which has just closed. The shuttering has caused a bit of a stir in the Eater inbox—"Just called MaMA Buddha (Hudson Street) to order some beef with dried bean curd - they are Out of Business. very very sad." It's the second popular Chinese joint on Hudson Street to close in six months, and in keeping with the general decline of Hudson Street. Locals are still mourning the aforementioned cheap-good Hunan Pan. Plus, Hudson lost Sazerac House at the end of last year. And if one thumbs back even deeper into the Decline and Fall of Hudson Street archive, there is, of course, Blind Tiger Ale House, which decamped to Bleecker Street in late 2005. We hate to do this but, is the White Horse Tavern next? [Eater Staff]
