GREENPOINT—Gothamist has a serious reveal of The Gutter (right, the tip of the iceberg), the first bowling alley to exist open in Brooklyn in 50 years, as the story goes. It's opening to the public this weekend, following some VIP preview nights tonight through Friday. [Gothamist]

DAILY DOH—Apparently, Soho eatery Ushiwaka Maru's dinner service was interrupted last night when the DOH decided to stop by. An Eater informant writes: "I didn't see it, but my co-worker -- an Ushi regular -- tried to get seated last night a little after 8 pm, only to be turned away by restaurant staff explaining that they would not be serving fish for the evening. Why? Something to do with the DoH inspector who was in the middle of forcing them to throw out every piece of fish in the restaurant during the dinner rush. DoH: is that some sort of graft I smell? Amazing how tolerant we've become.—Ed.] A tipster drops First Word of a planned Brother Jimmy's in Murray Hill: "The infamous dormitory - Windsor Court Apartments - which occupies the north side of 31st street between 3rd ave and lex is fairly recessed and the project will occupy a plot of land directly in front ofthe building, making residential construction an impossibility - at least high-rise. I called the management office to try to get the scoop and found out that another Brother Jimmy's BBQ (2 floors) is being built. That place will absolutely mint money in that neighborhood.
