EaterWire: Dessert Bar Kyotofu Expanding Downtown & More!

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN—An interesting note, with only a slight whiff of shill, from a tipster: "Hello, have you heard of the 'new' dessert bar in Hells Kitchen, Kyotofu? They practically started the gentrification of Hells Kitchen. I understand they are looking to open a new location downtown and are looking for spaces. Their architect is also on-board, its the same one from the Momofuku's...I was impressed with the innovative product/concept they offer. It's a great date place." [EaterWire Inbox]

WEST VILLAGE—An Eater informant writes: "Seems that BarFry (50 Carmine Street) opened with a liquor license but when we stopped by for a drink at the bar last night the hostess explained that they are without a license until “next week”. They were offering BYOB and were sending people to the liquor store down the block. I imagine that they had a license from the 50 Carmine overlap and are caught up in some sort of renewal process. Anyway, we did not stay since we were only intending on stopping for a drink at the oversized bar." [EaterWire Inbox]
