The Delay Reinstated: Tailor Sans Liquor License

Though we've called for an end to the Tailor speculation, that's not to say that we won't continue to report on cold hard facts. In an absolutely stunning turn of events, we've learned, and the SLA website confirms, that at this moment Tailor, Sam Mason's imminent solo debut in Soho, is without a liquor license. Whether they are without a certificate of occupancy and a liquor license, the latter of which cannot be obtained until the first is in place, or just the booze permit is unclear. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they're still welding in the basement. As for how the schedule shapes up from here, all bets are off. There's a chance the paperwork will come through today. But, Mason and co are unlikely to open to the public without these documents, and if they don't come in today, the Labor Day weekend is going to shut the operation down until Tuesday the earliest.

BONUS: History buffs may recall that back in June Sam Mason said this to Cutlets (will the true extent of disaster that was The Launch ever be known?): “We’re almost there. Some blogger had a report about us not having our liquor license yet, just to take a slap at me. Everyone knows your license is pending until you get your Certificate of Occupancy. It’s a 100 percent done deal; we just need to show the city how many we can seat so the occupancy limit can be posted." 100% done deal, eh?
