EaterWire: Sapa Names New Chef & More!

GRAMERCY/FLATIRON—Regarding the recent departure of chef Patricia Yeo at Sapa, the restaurant's PR team has sent out a note that officially addresses the situation. It reads: "Owner Brian Matzkow of SAPA Restaurant is excited to announce that the menu will be taking on a new direction under the guidance of newly appointed Executive Chef Gavin Portsmouth. Chef Portsmouth was the previous executive chef of Zax in Los Angeles and the current Chef de Cuisine at SAPA. Former Executive Chef Patricia Yeo has graciously parted ways to pursue other ventures." LOWER EAST SIDE—An informant drops us a line about the situation at THOR: "pee ess - the restaurant at thor was re-opened yesterday around 5pm - looks like they did some wall work and put in new window/doors on the front." [EaterWire Inbox]

MEPA—It would seem that the police were hitting nightspots all over town this weekend as part of some sort of crackdown. A tipster writes, "Looks like the Task Force was pretty busy last night, they were out in front of Gin Lane on West 14th, haven’t yet heard the outcome but will keep you posted!" [EaterWire Inbox]
