I called Accademia di Vino yesterday afternoon around 2. Asked if they take reservations and was told, "no, we're not going to start taking reservations until next week?we're walk-in only now" so we went there around 7:30, and as soon as we walked in, the 19 year-old stone faced hostess asked, "Do you have a reservation?" Baffled, I told her I'd called and was told reservations were not being accepted, to which she said, "Yeah well some of the manager's friends were allowed to make reservations" ??? I really didn't need to hear that. We were told it was a 30 minute wait, and since we were in a slight hurry, we said we'd return another night.

Something about that experience/service really rubbed me the wrong way. Not overtly surly, but there was a familiar lack of hospitality that's been the downfall of so many promising new restaurants in the city.
