Perilla opens today at 5:30 (having been in public reviews Friday and Saturday), as planned. We stopped in late Saturday night for an initial spot inspection (verdict: Passed), picked up a copy of the menu for you (below; Less Red Cat, more Asia), spotted a few notables (Food & Wine's Kate Krader, Nancy Silverton), and conversed a small bit with Mr. D (calm, collected, sporting non-Perilla-branded chef's coat). It's too early to say much more: expect serious crowds and serious food right off the bat, and some debate over the price point. Your impressions invited, per usual.
