On a glorious day such as this, our minds turn to open air drinking. While a more thorough survey of your options is in the works, why not begin with the best? There is but one A60 and, as a point of fact, all other rooftop bars pale in comparison. This here place in question, of course, is the bar atop the hotel 60 Thompson, which is accessed via membership or being tight with Mike, who runs the show at the door. Expect light fare, expensive but quality drinks and, on the east side of the bar, views of the Empire State Building. The best seat in the house is the bench in the northeast corner. As of this week, the bar is open for the summer, as it has been since 2002, weather permitting.
