EaterWire: Cipriani Could Be Reopening This Very Night & More!

MIDTOWN EAST—Looks like those crazy kids over at PX This just may have been right about Cipriani reopening in the Sherry-Netherland hotel today. A reader writes, "I walked by Harry Cipriani on 59th and 5th this morning around 10:30am. You could see clearly into the room through the window. There were guys inside unwrapping a large amount of chairs that looked like they had just been delivered. I’m figuring chairs are one of the last things to be tended to before an opening." LOWER EAST SIDE—What's really holding up the opening of the Two Boots on Grand? From a tipster, "Two Boots on Grand Street has been ready to open for months. Apparantely, [sic] the owner says that PSEG won't come to install the gas line. Something sounds fishy to me!" [EaterWire Inbox]

SMITH STREET—A tipster sent this note about Porchetta today, early afternoon, "Ran into Marco Rivero on Smith street. He said they're planning to reopen in the next couple of weeks, as a steak house." Apparently, Cutlets received the very same intel, as he reports that "The Carroll Gardens restaurant is coming back today as Carniceria, a Latin American steakhouse helmed by Novo and Calle Ocho chef Alex Garcia." Also, the eatery is having a soft opening tonight from 7 to 9pm with an official unveiling this weekend. May we just say good luck to you Marco Rivero. [Cutlets]
