Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Max Brenner, the East Village chocolatier. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:
Zero Stars: EVEN ??This one is, indeed, a doozy. The basic question of why the Frank is spending his quality time on a chocolate theme park is everything here. In a best-case scenario (for his readers), he's settling in for a Ninja-style take-down, absolutely blowing the place to bits. On the other hand, it's not impossible that he's going to shock the world and deem the place worthy of a star or two. By a star or two, we mean a star, as two stars here would be grounds for the Bruni's dismissal, of course. And, as for the middle ground, he may be killing time before the FR.OG goose egg with a place at which he was pleasantly surprised, about which he can say, "look, it's not just a chocolate theme park." In the end, Eater is sitting on the last scenario, a very positive goose egg, looking for him to name-check his niece and nephew, and chalking the whole thing up to the Times wanting to mix things up.
One Star: 3-1
Two Stars: 10-1
Three Stars: 90-1
Four Stars: 25,000-1
