EaterWire: Devin Tavern Owner Cans Chef & More!

TRIBECA—Looks like chef Chris Dunn's traditional American menu at Devin Tavern didn't win over critics or the owners of the restaurant. "I work at Devin Tavern in Tribeca, and about a week ago, the owners of said restaurant fired executive chef Chris Dunn (presumably over a bad review amongst other things) By next Saturday, the restaurant will feature an entire new menu by chef Derrick Szystek(?) I just met the guy. Over all, i'm not too impressed by the menu and expect the restaurant to continue to be terrible." [EaterWire Inbox]

NOLITA—It would appear as if the owners of recently-DOHed eatery Bahn Mi So 1 on Broome Street are using the unexpected downtime to renovate the joint. A reader writes, "i stopped by yesterday: the gates were up, the DoH notice was in full view, as were several 'closed for renovations' signs - and there was definitely major work taking place inside. looked like a renovation to me. it's one of my regular haunts so i'll keep you posted." FINANCIAL DISTRICT—After their Park Ave South outpost was closed briefly by the DOH, we get the news that French Brasserie Les Halles' downtown location has been temporarily closed as well. From a very reliable source, "Just walked past the John Street branch of Les Halles. Sign in the window said they were closed for some procedural changes until 4/26." Procedural changes? How ominous. FORT GREENE—Rejoice, as yet another of the city's outdoor drinking and dining destinations is reopening for summer. Fort Greene's eco-eatery Habana Outpost will be serving up its famous grilled corn on the cob, burgers, Cuban sandwiches and more beginning May 12th. [Brooklyn Record]
