The Freeman/Meyer-ified Provence (38 Macdougal Streeet, (212) 475-7500) will reopen tonight, a full week ahead of schedule, this according to one Vicki Freeman and confirmed via a sign on the door of Provence that reads, "We will open at 5:30 PM tonight. Come in for a glass of champagne." Having stopped in for a site inspection earlier today, we're pleased to report that the joint is mostly ready for prime time—though much of the original Provence's wood work and color palate remain in tact, a thorough overhaul of the space is breathing welcome new life into the 25 year old venue. You might even say that Marc Meyer and Vicki Freeman rescued Provence from its deathbed. The menu is still being finalized, but expect Plats Principaux such as Rotisserie lable rouge chicken, Vermont lamb daube and Grilled wolfes neck farm hanger. Tonight is the night, people, it'll only get more crowded from here.
