BruniBetting: E.U.

Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews E.U., long the big-money underdog of the East Village, which battled the SLA for 18 months before finally getting approved for a beer and wine license. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:

Zero Stars: 3-1
One Star: 3-1 ??
Two Stars: 8-1
Three Stars: 85-1
Four Stars: 25,000-1
Despite some very good reviewer buzz in the last couple of weeks, E.U., based on our own field inspections, has been inconsistent. Chef Nawab's food has ranged from legitimately very good to wildly less so; there are times it's been a one star venue, dare we say two, but there have also been times it's merely a strong zero-star pick. That being said, if the Bruni goes in just to goose egg the place, he's got a diabolical side more dominant than we'd previously believed. The Eater money is on one star, with language that makes clear he was temped to go in other directions.
