EaterWire: Blind Tiger Awarded Liquor License & More!

MIDTOWN EAST—It appears that the DOH's rampage continues unabated, leaving shuttered food establishments in its wake. A note from a reader this morning informed us of more carnage, "I walked by Johns Pizza on Bleeker and noticed the signs up from your previous post. As I walked down the block I then noticed that Risotteria on 270 Bleeker was also shut down by DOH. Lunch time Park & 57th...I headed over to Cafe Fonduta on 120 east 57th and guess what? Close by DOH...Well if anything well have clean restaurants I hope?" [EaterWire Inbox]

MIDTOWN WEST—Chef Brian Young has bounced around a lot in the past few years, with stints at Le Bernardin and Mainland. Bret Thorn has the news that Young is now the executive chef at Tavern On The Green, replacing John Milito, "who apparently is leaving to work in a country club somewhere." [Food Writer's Diary]

WEST VILLAGE—After their long struggle with the State Liquor Authority, Blind Tiger Alehouse has finally received a liquor license. Daniel Maurer for Cutlets has the news, "We just reported that there was nothing to report on the Blind Tiger Ale House's epic quest for a liquor license at its new location...Now we get this from Jestice: "Oddly enough, later yesterday afternoon, I received word that the Tiger had finally gotten the nod from the SLA for a beer and wine license...So there you have it, the roar heard around the world!" Indeed. A pleasing end, all in all, to a saga that included a period when the micro-brew stockist, forced dry, had to masquerade as a coffee shop. [Cutlets]
