Kalina, 3/21/07
The newest of the inevitably-packed-to-the-gills lobster shacks, this is Ed's Lobster Bar on Lafayette Street. With its opening, Soho and Nolita can now boast a lobster roll heavyweight of their own. 'Ed' is chef Ed McFarland, who has Pearl Oyster Bar at the top of his CV.
Per NYC lobster house specs, the venue is very small (Kalina definitely squeezed himself into a corner for you to take this photo) and the menu is 100% seafood. Early reports are quite good mixed (Gridskipper, Chowhound), but there are 60-90 minutes during prime time nevertheless.
