West Chelsea Slated to Get a Danny Meyer Restaurant

It's been three years since future mayor of NY Danny Meyer opened a new restaurant ("I just want to keep getting more deeply into the ones I do have right now.") and in that time there's been wide speculation as to what his next venture is going to be (not Shake Shack Chitown). Get this: In about 2009, Meyer is opening a large-scale restaurant at 100 Eleventh Avenue, Jean Nouvel's spectacularly grand residence tower planned for West Chelsea (many more details at unofficial online home of 100 Eleventh, Curbed). Since ground on the building is as yet unbroken, very few details about the restaurant are available and Meyer's camp is characteristically mum. But, barring a deal that falls through, it's happening. As is a dining room that will boast -- oh, wait, we do have one last detail -- floating trees.

UPDATE: From an official 100 Eleventh spokesperson: "There are conversations happening but that's absolutely all so far. As you know, nothing is a done deal 'til it really and truly is." Ie. it's totally happening.

UPDATE 2: Official sources are saying the deal is no further along than 'discussions.' And so we wait. Patiently.

UPDATE 3: Camp Meyer checks in: "We actually declined the opportunity despite it being such a spectacular design."
