Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Nish, Wayne Nish's madeover, dressed-down townhouse, formerly known as March. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:
Zero Stars: 5-1Frankie Brun Brun documented his experience at March, and with Chef Wayne Nish, in a 2004 Diner's Journal that ended as follows: "...March could help itself. It could jazz up its look — add just a bit of youthful dash to its dowager refinement. It could tone down its chatter. I was happy to be in the province of an able chef. I didn't need so very many reminders of who that was." Preceding this bit of Bruni advice was mostly high praise for the food, Nish and his sous chef Harold Moore (who has left). So, if Nish pulled off his makeover, which was designed to breath life into his restaurant by way of a Times review, he's already got the better part of a deuce. Though technically one star is the most likely case here statistically, Eater is taking two bombs, betting as much on the Nish Reinvention success story as a pleased Frank Bruni.
One Star: 8-3
