EaterWire: New Bar from R&R Owners Opening Tomorrow & More!

CHELSEA—The owners of now-shuttered Meatpacking District lounge R&R are set to open a new bar nearby, reports the Post. Craig Koenig and Larry Kramer have named the place Retreat, the theme will be "rustic and lodge-like." The Post notes that the bar won't be serving till next week, but after a quick call to the establishment, located at 37 W 17th Street, we have word that the spot will be open for drinks as soon as tomorrow night. Race you there. [NY Post]

FORT GREENE—Is starchy pan-Asian eatery Rice in Fort Greene about to close? The Brooklyn Record happened upon a listing for the space on Craigslist, "Earlier this week, a surprising listing showed up on Craigslist for a restaurant space on DeKalb between Washington Park and South Oxford. This got us thinking because there are only two locations that could remotely qualify as a restaurant on the block. One is Sammy's Gourmet Deli. The other is the beloved Rice, on the corner at 166 DeKalb." [The Brooklyn Record]

CHELSEA—Japanese pastry shop Choux Factory, located on 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue, is temporary closed due to health violations. BlogChelsea has a photo of the shuttered space, along with this info, "The guy inside when I took this photo said they would be reopening soon." No word on what "violations" led to the closure.
