The Shutter: Table XII, Savanna Steak, Arte Around the Corner, Cellars

SLAM! That's right, it's time for another edition of The Shutter.

2007_02_tablexii.gif1) Midtown East: An Eater reader emails, "TABLE XII ON 56TH GONZO!!! It was just last week they were handing out samples. Oh well, great place, good food. Old world. Apparently too Old world." A call to the venue yields this: "We're closed for renovation." When might you reopen? "Not sure at this point." Mmmkay. [Shutter Inbox, official site]

2) Midtown East: "I was wondering if you knew if Savanna Steak is closed for good? I had heard that they were closed by the board of health a month or so ago, but their phone is disconnected and I walked by the place today and the doors are taped shut, but there are no signs indicating what's up." The RG has the confirm. [Restaurant Girl, official site]

3) Upper West Side: "I walked by Arte Around the Corner (on Columbus and 73rd street, next to where SQC used to be) last night and it looked like it had closed?! This is/was a delightful neighborhood coffee place with outstanding coffee, sandwiches and baked goods (MUCH less expensive--and so much bettter-- than the starbucks across the street)." Calls to the venue rang... and rang... and rang. No one answered. [Shutter Inbox, official site]

4) Clinton Hill: The Clinton Hill Blog confirms the previously reported shuttering of neighborhood bar Cellars. Color: " In fact, my neighbor met his (now ex-) wife here for the first time, back in the day." [Clinton Hill Blog, previously]
