Brunibetting: Grayz

New, 5 comments

Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Grayz, Gray Kunz's new Midtown West restaurant. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:

Zero Stars: 8-1
One Star: 4-1
Two Stars: 3-1 ??
Three Stars: 5-1
Four Stars: 10,000-1
There are two historical data points to play with today: Bruni's two star review of Cafe Gray, and a Bruniblog post, in which he notes some reserved excitement about the opening. Indeed, Kunz can cook and there is a lot of very good food to be had here. The key questions surround the extent to which the Bruni is going to deduct style points for a fairly pedestrian looking dining room and effort points for Kunz's abbreviated menu. Our take this week is that had the menu been a bit fuller here, we'd be looking at a three star candidate; but with it being what it is, Grayz is going to get a deuce.
