The Curious Case of Bao 111

New, 2 comments

Bao 111 announces via storefront signage (above) that they will now be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays ("until further notice," as clarified by a call to the restaurant). Now, hmm. Bao 111, the Avenue C noodle restaurant that put Michael Bao Huynh on the map, should be doing better than this (though Huynh is now gone). It's a neighborhood go-to and, via Huynh, has three sister and step-sister restaurants (Bao Noodles, Mai House and Bun). Closing two days a week is an aggressive play, to be sure, especially for a business that relies heavily on local walk-ins. If you do want to dine once more at this Alphabet City trailblazer, you may be running out of time. Also, Drew Nieporent probably would like you to note that he's not affiliated with this restaurant.
