EaterWire: Seymour Supplants Le Tableau, Red Mango Spreads, Gregory's Shutters on 14th Street

New, 12 comments

EAST VILLAGE—After a ten-year run on East 5th Street, French bistro Le Tableau is no more. Emails new owner Adam Cohn, "We bought Le Tableau (decade old French-Egyptian Bistro). Converting it to Seymour, American restaurant. Under construction but still serving. See our menu at our website." Though in-progress makeovers tend to be dicey, the menu (above) does have a certain appeal. Reports from the scene, svp? [EaterWire Inbox]

EAST VILLAGE—Sad news from a special correspondent further east on 14th: "Just hit up my local coffee shop/blog-making outpost, the Starbucks-knockoff Gregory's Coffee on 14th Street [between First and Second Aves]. Completely vacated, with a handwritten "store for rent" sign in the window. Sad. They seemed to do decent business. Unsure if the other location on Park Ave. South is still up and running." Blogger Joe Maller offers some more intel, and photos of the carnage. [EaterWire Inbox]
