BruniBetting: Pamplona

New, 5 comments

Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Pamplona, Alex Urena's Spanish restaurant off Park Avenue South. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:

Zero Stars: 4-1
One Star: 2-1 ??
Two Stars: 5-1
Three Stars: 50-1
Four Stars: 25,000-1
Pamplona is the dressed-down reconceptualized version of Urena, which Chef Urena opened 18-odd months ago—and the Bruni then two-starred. This scenario doesn't have the look and feel of a zilch train coming down the tracks and it's hard to see Bruni being unresponsive to the fact that this is, by the restaurant's own admission, a more casual, less reaching version of the first restaurant. It's possible The Franktastic's affinity for casual food will have Pamplona enjoying a deuce, but the Eater cash is on a nice, easy, perhaps even yawn-inducing one star review.
