MIDTOWN EAST—Seeing Monkey Bar go from New York institution to restaurant wasteland in under 12 months really leaves a mark—angers us, even, to lose such a place—, but here's to hoping the installation of a new chef can turn the place around. Said chef is Chris Cheung, who was last at Almond Flower (he also has a stint at Nobu on his CV). There he made a bit of name for himself by intimidating his partners with his culinary acrobatics, so it does remain to be seen what happens at Monkey Bar. But we're rooting for a comeback for both the chef and the restaurant. [EaterWire]
