Senor Swanky's Looks to Cash Out Uptown

New, 4 comments

Folks, we may be looking at end times for one of the Upper West Side's most fun-time blocks. On Columbus Avenue between 84th and 85th, revelers once had the choice between Jackson Hole, Senor Swanky's, Vinyl, Loft, and Prohibition Bar. But now Loft is long-gone and, judging by a real estate listing, Senor Swanky's may be soon to follow. The Mexican mini-chain—there's also a location in the Central Village, which doubles as NYU's best frat—has put its UWS outpost on the market, asking a $700,000 fixture fee for the right to the $22,000/month lease (nine years left). On reflection, might be just the place for Eater to debut its intriguing new chain concept—ah, but that's a post for another day.
