Thailand Café Loses Neon Signage, Tones Down East Village Menacing

New, 7 comments

A dispatch from the East Village now, from a top-level correspondent: "Thailand Café in the East Village has decided to end the assault on our eyeballs by pulling down their neon green lights and awning in favor of more subdued brown décor (above, neon inset). The restaurant is located on Second Avenue between Fifth and Sixth streets, and the former florescent signage could be seen from blocks away. For years, it was among Second Avenue’s ugliest."
