BruniBetting: Eleven Madison Park/The Bar Room

Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews two of Danny Meyer's finest, Eleven Madison Park and The Bar Room at the Modern, which was previously bundled in a review of The Modern restaurant. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:

ELEVEN MADISON PARK
Zero Stars: 15-1
One Star: 5-1
Two Stars: 3-1
Three Stars: 6-1 ??
Four Stars: 4,000-1

THE BAR ROOM
Zero Stars: 4-1
One Star: 2-1
Two Stars: 4-1 ??
Three Stars: 300-1
Four Stars: 6,000-1

Eleven Madison Park, now helmed by Daniel Humm, has gotten extremely good reviews of late. If one were to convert those reviews into Bruni stars, Eleven Madison is looking at either a high two stars or low three. In addition, the restaurant under former chef Kerry Heffernan received two stars from Frankie Brun Brun in February of 2005, at which time he noted an unevenness. By most recent accounts, that unevenness has been somewhat smoothed. Over at The Bar Room, the venue had been previously included in Bruni's two-star job of The Modern, a review that had about as much praise for The Bar Room as for the main dining room. For both Bar Room and Eleven Madison, let's also consider the supreme restaurant prowess of Mr. Danny Meyer, as well has the kindness The Frank has extended to most every review of a Meyer restaurant that he's written.

Ergo and thusly, the most likely outcome, by oddsmakers' standards, is for Bar Room to be a awarded one star and for Humm's Eleven Madison to hold its two. But, because we like to live a little and there are plenty of subjective factors in play that make rolling the dice here an attractive bet (6-1 on three stars at EMP is calling our name), Eater is betting on a blockbuster day for Danny Meyer: two stars for The Bar Room and three for Eleven Madison Park.
