Second Avenue Deli Rides Again?

The Sun has word of a new chapter developing in the story of the famed Second Avenue Deli. Though no contracts have been signed and details on the venue are scarce, the Lebewohl family (owners of the original restaurant) are in talks to purchase 162 East 33rd Street (now Marbella) and turn it into "a food establishment selling delicatessen food with possibly a service bar," according to the liquor license application filed by the family--and recommended for approval by Community Board Six. Importantly, the new venue would be run by Joshua Lebewohl, who is at present an attorney, not his father Jack. No timeline on construction or opening has been established.
