Gather 'round, friends. May we be the first to introduce you to the post-plywood/soft-opened Death & Co., as worthy a contender for New Black status as there is. The details are sketchy thus far (of course they are, bless the cagey proprietors' hearts), but what we can tell you about this gem is that it's at 433 East 6th Street, between First and A in the former Raga space. The head bartender is late of an extremely reputable cocktail lounge (and we'd tell you which, save for the fact that his current boss doesn't know he's leaving) and the space is, per a field report, "kind of gothically good looking." Another correspondent, who also supplied the above camera phone goodness, accurately compares the venue to the venerable Milk & Honey. Though not officially open, we are told that entry is not impossible. Race you there? [POST PLYWOOD]
