The eGullet set has pieced together news that Paul Liebrandt has left Gilt and will be replaced by Best New Chef Christopher Lee, formerly of Philly's Striped Bass. Liebrandt's exit is not entirely a surprise. Though apparently he has blamed a series of factors, including poorly managed PR, there is the simple fact that once two-starred, his cuisine at Gilt prices didn't have a prayer.
During the transition, i.e. now, the restaurant is closed. Post Labor Day, Lee's reign begins--as do Deathwatch committee deliberations.
