EaterWire AM Edition: The Place, Tony Luke's, Galaxy Diner

How's about a little Wire to kick start the day? Herein, an all good news edition of our favorite wire report and yours.

· Though the situation had appeared grim as little as a week ago, now it looks like West 4th Street installation The Place is safe from Shutter-by-lease-expiration. From official sources, a new nine year lease has been negotiated. [EaterWire]

· "The Zagat-rated, Philadelphia-based cheesesteak purveyor, Tony Luke's is about to reopen its Hells Kitchen satellite as of August 21st, according to an exasperated man who answered their line. The restaurant has been mysteriously closed for renovations since May. The source said that the restaurant has secured a liquor license and will operate as a full service bar and restaurant. The original Tony Luke's, at Oregon and Front Streets in South Philadelphia, operates a food stand and sports bar adjacent to each other. [EaterWire Inbox]

· "The Galaxy Diner at 46th and Ninth Ave has reopened. Spiffed up and enlarged a bit - but it's run by the same folks as before and hasn't completely gentrified." [EaterWire Inbox]
