The Shutter reports on restaurant and bar closings around New York City. Seen something shut down? Eater operators are standing by.
1) Cobble Hill: Is the bubble finally bursting on Smith Street, the Brooklyn eating thoroughfare? At the Smith/Degraw corner, word has it that both Italian restaurant Rosemary Room and Indian eatery Baluchi's (right) are no more. Opines a Chowhounder, "I think the saturation point is about there. Too many places trying to be all things to all people. Between Columbia, Smith, Court, and 5th ave, it is just too much. Without huge outside interest, I don't see the neighborhood supporting all these places." [Chowhound]
2) East 20s: From an Eater reader, word of a (temporary?) shutter: "Never eaten at Rocky Sullivan’s but saw a notice that they were closed by the health department while I was walking to work last week. The health department’s violation site reported one of their violations was not holding a permit to operate. So I guess that could explain it." Anyone got more? [Official Site, Wikipedia]
