We hear through secret—and very well-placed—back channels that John "Lever House/Chinatown Brasserie" McDonald's Lure Fishbar, damaged in January's Great Soho Fire, is set to reopen (somewhat quietly) this Friday, nautical-luxe interior fully restored. Improvements include a menu expansion to make room for a new sushi chef, Tanaka Shigenori, who cut his proverbial knife teeth at Sushi Yasuda, Jewel Bako, and Masa and joins executive chef Josh Capon to, in the words of our tipster, "spearhead a full sushi program." We can't wait.
UPDATE: A close-to-the-source friend sends in a couple pictures, writes:
They made a bunch of changes—Fabrics, curtains, color-scheme has all been changed. There is now a full sushi bar, with a new teak divider wall between the raw/sushi bar and main space. The bar also features a new lounge area.Hot shot of the new interior above, more after the jump.
