Colicchio: Molto Mario is a Good Friend

Regarding the situation on the ground at 85 10th Avenue, after we ran this, we recieved an email from well-placed PR operatives inviting us to speak with Nice Guy Colicchio directly to sort the business out. So we did.

The word from Craftsteak himself is that he's been pals with Motlo Mario and Joe B. for years and wishes them the best at Del Posto. (Has he been in yet to try? For previews, and he's had drinks with Clogs at the bar multiple times. The little he's seen, he likes.) As for the general well-being of his NoMeat brethren, he again wishes to express only the best of wishes and wanted to emphasize that for NY to remain the restaurant town we know it is, restaurants of all sizes and kinds have to thrive. [As for NoMeat steakhouses, however, he's got dibs.—ed] Finally, Craftsteak, Tom assures, is not located in the space scarred by Mario's duct work and is on target to open sometime between late March and early April.

So there's that. Please adjust your records and cocktail conversation accordingly.
