The relocated and redesigned Tocqueville opens today at 1 East 15th St., half of a block west of its former diggs. Husband and wife owners Marco Moreira and Jo-Ann Makovitzky (Marco is also the chef, of course) have taken their understated and critically heralded French American and dialed it up a notch on the fancy meter. Dining room seating for 75, expanded wine storage and, amenity of the decade, fur lockers (for which guests will receive keys) are just some of what you can expect in their new space.
The couple, who first received attention as Marco Polo Caterers, will retain ownership of 15 East 15th St., where they will install a new restaurant concept with opening date and details TBD.
