71 Clinton to Close

[Kalina, 10/1/05.]

Some very bad news on the LES. Strong has it that 71 Clinton Fresh Food, the restaurant widely credited with first bringing fine dining to the LES and the place where Wylie Dufrense made a name for himself, is to close its doors for good on March 15th. This will follow Chef Jason Neroni's departure, which is slated for February 25th. Per Strong, the lease will either be resold (owners of the Cowgirl Hall of Fame have their hat in the ring) or it will go back to the landlord, who is trying to sell the building.

Whether or not the restaurant's best days are behind it, this is a place you'll want to stop into once more before they shutter for good. Make your reservation now (212-614-6960).
