Tomorrow, 11:30 AM will mark the opening of Swich, John Gargiulo's re-thinking of the sandwich shop genre in Chelsea. He's opening in a town not lacking in transporting sandwich experiences, so our man has his work cut out for him. With that in mind, let's commence the information drop. Maximum Kalina will follow in the morning (press porn shot pictured here), but at this time, we bring you John's one-day-out thoughts as well as his opening day menu (after the jump) in all its sandwich heresy glory.
Some fun facts, straight from Mr. Gargiulo:
1) First, the brass tacks: The venue is located at 104 8th Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets. Hours will be 11:30am-11pm, 7 days a week; eventually they'll be open until 2am Friday and Saturday nights. Phone: (212) 488-4800. Also eventually, delivery and catering. (Yahtzee.)
2) John on design vs. food: "While we love great design and making our space fun to be in, our number one priority is and always will be the food, the food, the food. We have tested all of our Swiches a minimum of 15 different ways before finding the absolute tastiest version."
3) John has been obsessed with good sandwiches since: age 12.
Ahead, the menu revealed. Double yahtzee.
