Though, arguably, he ushered in the age of haute Asian at Nobu, it's about time Drew Nieporent got back in that game, as it's certainly in his sweet spot. And so, feast your eyes on Mai House, long a top secret collaboration of Drew and Michael Bao Huynh (of Bao restaurants fame). Here the cuisine is 'Modern Vietnamese', which per the early menu (available below) means such items as wild boar nem sausage and steamed barramundi in banana leaves. The Drewski gave Huynh serious latitude on this project, as Huynh is not only the chef, but he designed the space as well. Interior design keywords: historic Tribeca warehouse, hand-carved wood fixtures, and translucent Vietnamese lotus flower lights.
Just ahead, four additional views of the interior in all its Myriad Group glory. She opens, officially, tomorrow.
