For two brief weekends buttressing the end of September and the beginning of October, there was a centrally-located bar on the Lower East Side where one could, at 11pm on a Saturday night, find a seat and enjoy quiet conversation. Then, a weekend back, came this text message from a friend of Eater: "We've lost The Marshall Stack."
Only on weekend nights, mind you. The rest of the time, the Stack is a very pleasant bar in the Magician/WXOU/WCOU vein, with a solid jukebox and laid-back vibe. (My how far we've come.) We've got a few thoughts on the menu, but we'll save those for another day. For now, know that this is at its core a bar, not a restaurant, and that it is good.
