Gray's Grayz Scrapped

In a shocking twist, Gray Kunz's plans for Grayz, a second restaurant in New York, have been scrapped, Page Six reports this AM:

Kunz, who was known for giving landlords the runaround before he landed at the Time Warner Center, has pulled out of the former Aquavit space on West 54th Street after leases were signed last November. "He had a great deal, and we've been waiting for him to get it together," said the landlord's broker, Newmark's Jeffrey Roseman, adding that the owner had to pass on several "serious restaurateurs" while the property sat in limbo. Last spring, when construction on what was to be called Grayz had yet to begin, Kunz said he'd "lost faith in construction companies."
The restaurant was to be somewhere between private event space and casual dining bar, and to open in fall 2006 (at least per the initial press offerings).
