Strong is the first out of the gate on the closing of the short-lived Citron, Gavin Citron's eponymously named 35-seater formerly of 288 Bleeker Street. She reports that Citron will reopen the space as an offshoot of Maroon's in partnership with Maroon's owner Arlene Westin. Ostensibly, Citron will also lend his expertise to a Maroon's slated to open in Harlem.
Following a great deal of buzz at opening, Citron fell victim to an awkward menu and generally bad reviews. Given Chef Citron's resume (Aleutia, Aja, Celedon), however, it is safe to assume that distinctly good things are still to come from him.
