UPDATE: An Eater reader emails, "That joint was for many years a friendly Italian spot called Maria Elena. Closed around 2000 and for a while there was a sign saying that a new place called "Abraxas" would open there, but it never did.

That's a very nice block, by the way. The thin-crust pizzas at Gonzo are great, and they have nice sidewalk seating, as does Gradisca."
