The Browning of Perry Street

[Photograph by special Eater correspondent Yusheng Liao]

Ah, Perry Street, fount of our midsummer dining dreams. Now that you can't get into Jean-Georges' new oasis on the West Side, an Eater correspondent offers word from the inside:

The food is fantastic and the decor is beautiful. A very cool, sexy, small (!) place. They said they soon will have outside dining which would be excellent as it is offset the West Side Highway and beside a 'reflection pool.' Very feng shui Jean-Georges.

Unfortunately, last Wednesday or Thursday, they had a brownout and have been closed since! They apparently opened back up last night. Rumor has it a well known food critic had just finished paying the bill when the electricity went off. I would have loved to have seen that.
