Yesterday, the Times provided you with some interiors of the newly opened Pizza Bar on Lower Ninth Avenue. This is, of course, the somewhat schizophrenic pizza/club concept that Roy Liebenthal, of Pop and Pop Burger fame, has been developing with architect M. Ali Tayar. Design elements include foam seats upholstered in blue vinyl; banquette seats covered in wetsuit fabric and synthetic rabbit fur; and blackened steel cocktail tables that swivel open to reveal ice buckets.
All of this does imply that, somewhere, there are hipsters with an urge to eat pizza in the faux-1970s. Whether or not they're out there remains to be seen. Slice? You kids have anything to say about this nonsense?
